How to Install a Leather Sofa Cover

Getting a leather sofa cover is a great way to protect your furniture from dust, dirt, pet hair and liquid spills. It also can add a touch of flair to your decor.

There are several different slipcover materials you can choose from, including microfiber, cotton and linen. Many are machine-washable, which makes them easier to maintain.

Material: The material of your leather sofa cover plays a major role in how it protects the furniture. Some are made from synthetic fibers, such as polyester, which can withstand the wear and tear of daily use. Others are made from a faux leather material, which is also durable and easy to clean.

The simplest way to keep a slipcover in place is to secure it with accessories such as furniture weights, tuckers or grips. These accessories are typically affixed between the cushions or at the arms of the sofa to prevent slipping.

Another option is to purchase a separate set of cushion protectors for each piece of furniture. These are generally made from a fabric that isn't abrasive to the leather, such as velvet, and are more slip-resistant than one-piece covers.

To install a sofa cover, start by making sure you've got the right size for your couch. Measure the front of your couch and the back and then order a slipcover that fits your measurements perfectly. Once your slipcover arrives, pull it over the sofa to make sure it fits properly and smooth it out until it's evenly draped across all sides of your couch.
