How to Protect Your Leather Sofa With a Leather Slipcover

A sofa cover is an easy and inexpensive way to refresh and protect your sofa. Plus, it can add a touch of style and a fresh look to your living room.
Protect Your Couch With a Leather Slipcover
The best leather sofa cover will be waterproof, rip- and spill-resistant and made of durable, breathable fabric that won’t show stains or wear easily. It should also match the decor of your home and be comfortable for you and your family to sit on.

Protect Your Leather Sofa with a Stretchy Slipcover
A stretchy leather sofa cover can be a great option if you have a unique-shaped couch that most covers won’t fit. These covers have elastic on the back and sides to ensure they fit your specific couch shape.
Drape the cover over your couch and align it evenly over both sides. Pull the extra fabric in toward the arms and along the back of the sofa to make it fit tighter. Use a wooden spoon to press it into the creases between your sofa’s frame and the cushions.
Secure the Cover in Place
If your sofa cover has corner ties or elastic, tie them on to anchor it into place. You may also need to tuck in the ends of the ties to make sure they’re secure.
Hem the Cover
To hem the covers, spread them out on a large work surface and trace a hemline using chalk. The line should be about 1 inch (2.5 cm) from the edge. Once you’ve finished hemming, you can trim off any excess fabric with a pair of scissors or a zigzag stitcher.
