How to Choose a Leather Sofa Cover

A leather sofa is an expensive investment, so it’s important to keep it looking its best. A quality cover can protect it from stains and spills, as well as everyday wear and tear. Some covers are also made of a material that’s easy to clean and wrinkle resistant. The best leather sofa covers balance function and comfort to provide an elegant, well-maintained appearance.

In addition to protecting your leather furniture from stains and spills, couch covers add an extra level of style to your living room decor. They come in a variety of colors, patterns and textures that complement your leather couches, making them an excellent decorative accessory. Additionally, covers can help blend mismatched sofas and make them look uniform.

To ensure your new slipcover is the right fit, drape a cheap piece of muslin or butcher paper on your sofa and tuck it in loosely. Then use chalk to outline the general shape of your sofa, taking care to trace the pattern of the arm fronts if necessary. If you’re feeling confident, you can skip this step and simply drape the fabric you’ll be using over the sofa, wrong-side up (i.e., the pattern or color should be facing down). Then use straight pins to affix the sections together, leaving a seam allowance and following the chalk lines you’ve drawn.

Non-slip covers are ideal for homes with kids and pets. They’re less likely to slide off of your sofa than slipcovers and are easier to install. Many of them feature anti-slip foam strips that attach to the underside of your couch, helping them stay in place. Additionally, they have elastic around the bottom to keep them in place and anti-slip straps that attach to the back of the cover for an extra level of protection.

Some non-slip covers need furniture straps or slipcover grips to keep them in place. These accessories are sold separately and can be added to existing furniture covers or used on their own. The clips on the furniture straps can be used to secure them in place, while the hooks on the slipcover grips allow them to be attached to existing sofa hardware.
